Our Philosophy
Welcome to Get Set Grow Early Childcare Centre, where we firmly believe that each child is a unique, competent, and capable individual right from birth. Our approach is holistic, focusing on establishing and nurturing secure, respectful, and reciprocal relationships with the children we care for. These positive experiences foster a sense of belonging, instil confidence to form friendships, encourage intellectual curiosity, and cultivate resilience to help them become valuable members of society (EYLF Q1; NQF 2018 QA 1.1.2).
We highly value the role of the family as a child's primary and most influential teacher. We warmly welcome their insights into their child's personality, culture, abilities, and interests. Through collaborative partnerships with families, our educators can provide the best support and meaningful learning experiences tailored to each child's unique needs (NQF 2018, QA 6). Furthermore, we deeply respect the diverse backgrounds, views, and values of the families who entrust us with their children's care. We acknowledge and welcome their contributions to decision-making processes within our service (NQF2018 6.1.2).
Our goal is to support each child in developing a strong and affirmed sense of self and family, embracing differences, and nurturing an awareness of fairness and equity. Recognizing and acknowledging our indigenous culture and the social and cultural diversity within the broader community is of utmost importance to us (NQF 2018 6.2.3). We actively foster connections with the local community and provide children with opportunities to learn and engage with their surroundings. We also encourage family and community members to actively participate in our programs.
At Get Set Grow, we hold children's right to play, as outlined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, in high regard. We view the early years as a pivotal period in a child's life, laying the foundation for all future learning. Our dedicated educators take on an active role in accommodating individual learning styles and assisting each child in reaching their full potential. Our pedagogical approach to children's learning encompasses cognitive and academic achievements, as well as physical, social, and mental well-being, including personal and emotional development and spiritual well-being (Be You; NQS 2.1).
Moreover, we foster independence and agency to empower children in making choices, decisions, and influencing events in their world (NQF 2018 5.1.2). Our commitment to safety and well-being extends to creating and maintaining safe and healthy indoor and outdoor learning environments. We believe that these spaces act as the "third teacher," significantly influencing children's learning and development, while fostering engagement and initiative (NQF QA3). As stewards of the environment, we promote respect, care, and appreciation for the natural elements (NQF 3.2.3).
Our practices and experiences aim to instil a sense of responsibility in children to care for the environment and embrace sustainable practices. The educators at Get Set Grow work cohesively as individuals and as a team to create a supportive environment. We are committed to providing high-quality early education and care. Through ongoing learning and reflective practice, our educators continuously strive to offer the utmost support to each child, helping them flourish in their journey of lifelong learning (NQF 4; NQF7).
